Many states, such as Pennsylvania, who have contracted Pearson Vue for administering the exam, follow these re-testing procedures for Pearson Vue offered NNAAP exam. In some state testing agency working with the American Red Cross schedule and regulate  CNA Classes .

In such case the aspiring candidate willing to appear for the NNAAP Exam is required to fill up a Registration Form and send it to American Red Cross Competency Evaluation Program.  The eligibility for appearing in the exam is 16 years age. ADA accommodation is also available for disable students and they have to apply for the same. The option of Oral Exam can also be selected by the candidate in the Registration Form.

NNAAP Exam has two separate components, written/oral test and clinical or skill evaluation test.

Written/Oral Examination comprises of total 70 multi choice questions, where 60 multiple choice questions are scoring and 10 questions are non scoring reading comprehension. The test needs to be completed within 2 hours.

Skill Test needs demonstration of 5 randomly selected skills performance from 25 skills and, 25 minutes are offered to complete the test. The test is performed on a client.

The test results are declared same day and official result is send to the examinee, in his/her mail address within 12 days of the completion of the test.
